Vintage Images of the Hotel Ivoire

A bunch of vintage postcards of the Hotel Ivoire from its various stages of development, from the rather dull and diminutive original building, opened in 1963 (and apparently extended in later years), to the massive 1970s addition, which included not only the soaring tower but a huge Congress Hall, lagoon pool, and thatched-hut entertainment pavilion with restaurants and the like on a mutli-acre campus, across the water from central Abidjan. (I am not sure what is going on in front of the hotel as in some shots there seems to be an un-landscaped berm whereas in the panoramic view with the city center in the background, the lagoon's shoreline seems to reach the edge of the pool area itself).
